STORYLINE
The Duke of Northcastle, John Mckane, decides to take revenge on his late wife's lover by marrying his sister, Elisabeth Lanchester, who is forced to accept to save her family from ruin. Gradually, they both discover that what they feel for each other goes far beyond hatred and spite. However, a diplomatic mission to India during the Cipayos rebellion, a hoax and a sick obsession separate the two lovers and make it difficult for a happy ending.
